What is Retained Placenta?

During the third stage of labour when contractions are not strong enough or the cervix is closed after delivery of the baby, the placenta  fails to expel spontaneously within 30 minutes of delivery and remains loosely attached to the wall to the uterus, it is known as retained placenta which  cause life threatening complications for the mother if left untreated, if there is heavy bleeding or clot formation which leads to other symptoms .
