Placenta Accreta Spectrum (PAS): Why is it so important?

Placenta Accreta Spectrum refers to a range of pathological adherence of placenta, which is characterised by abnormal decidualization due to the defect in the endometrial-myometrial interface. In this condition, the placenta does not detach spontaneously after delivery and its forcible removal will be life-threatening. Hence early diagnosis is proved to be beneficial.
