Complications due to placental abruption

Placental abruption may lead to complications in both mother and fetus which may include (IUGR) intrauterine growth retardation, premature birth (leading to developmental defects) or even stillbirth. In the mother, it may lead to hemorrhagic shock, clotting issues, hysterectomy caused due to profuse bleeding, anemia and even organ failure resulting from blood loss.
