What are the dangers associated with Placental Abruption?

It may not cause much problems if only a small part of the placenta separates. But if it completely or a big part detaches from the uterus, it might be dangerous to the mother and the baby. Which means it can cause major blood loss leading to shock or need of blood transfusion, can cause blood clotting, kidney failure or death of the mother or the baby.

Question: If you have a near or complete abruption, will you need to have a C-section right away?
