What is vasa previa?

Vasa Previa is a serious complication of pregnancy. It is usually very rare. In this some of the fetal umbilical cord blood vessels which are inside membranes, unprotected by the umbilical cord run very close to the internal opening of the cervix. So, if the membranes break there is a high risk of rupturing.there are approximately 56% cases of vasa previa which go undiagnosed and result in stillbirth.
