Complications of Amniotomy

Membrane rupture eliminates the primary barrier between fetus and microbial environment of vagina, so the complications are relatively low. It can cause intrapartum chorioamnionitis if performed too early in the labor process. Prolapse of the umbilical cord is the most common complication of Amniotomy. This usually happens if this process is performed when the head is not engaged in the maternal pelvis.

Question: does prolapse of umbilical cord leads to fetal bradycardia and cesarean section delivery?
