Lochia: The best indicator of infection after delivery

After giving birth, there is a vaginal discharge that contains blood, mucus, and uterine tissue. After the birth of the baby, this discharge continues for four to six weeks. There are 3 types: Lochia Rubra (red color) 5-6 days, Lochia Serosa (yellowish) 5-9 days, and Lochia Alba  10-15 days. The average amount of discharge is around 250 ml considered normal.
