Moulding: Partograph parameter to check labor progress

Moulding is the alteration of the shape of the fore-coming head while passing through the resistant birth passage during labor. During normal delivery, an alteration of 4mm in skull diameter commonly occurs. It has 3 grades:

Grade 1: The bones touching but not overlapping

Grade 2: Overlapping easily separated 

Grade 3: Fixed overlapping 

Normal variations in moulding of the newborn skull disappear within 1–3 days after the birth.
