Bandl’s ring is an emergency condition that occurs during labor where the uterus gets divided into two segments. A band of uterine muscle is created in which the baby’s head or shoulders remains trapped resulting in inability to deliver the infant. This may result in severe trauma to the infant’s head, neck or shoulder leading to delayed developmental milestones and cerebral palsy.
