Babies born to women having GD have increased chances of having respiratory distress syndrome and jaundice. Macrosomia is a common phenomenon due to the transfer of higher than normal blood sugar from the mother to the fetus during pregnancy. As a result, they are more likely to experience birth trauma. The risk of stillbirth is another fatal outcome.
