Polyhydramnios: Common complication in Diabetic mothers

Polyhydramnios is a pregnancy complication in which there is an abnormal increase in the volume of amniotic fluid which exceeds 2000ml.  Common causes include gestational diabetes and anomalies that prevent the fetus from swallowing amniotic fluid. It occurs in about 1% of pregnancies. More common in multipara than in Primigravida.
